Us local Floridians have to make this dish the hardway…catch it ourselves. Florida doesn’t sell redfish in stores or restaurants, so the only way to make this exact dish is if you go out and catch yourself a redfish! Check out our informative article, Redfish: Red Drum Fishing Tips.

Dont want to catch your dinner tonight? Dont fret, you can still use this spicy blakened recipe. Simply substitute just about any fish you are brave enough to try. Keep in mind that each fish will cook at different rates. Salmon may take slightly longer, tilapia may take a bit less and shrimp just needs to be cooked til bright pink.

Ingredients

  • 4 Redfish Fillets (or Substituted fish fillets)
  • 1/4 Cup Melted Butter
  • 1 1/4 Cups Italian Salad Dressing
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Lemon Pepper
  • 1 tsp Cayenne Pepper

Directions

Prep: 5-10 min.|Cook: 30-40 min.|Yields: 2-4 Servings

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • Place the melted butter in a shallow dish.
  • In a medium sized mixing bowl add the salt, pepper, garlic powder, lemon pepper and cayenne pepper. Stir to combine the ingredients.
  • Place a large pan on the stove, on high heat.
  • Dip the fillets into the melted butter and then dip them into the cayenne mixture. Then place them in the skillet on the stove.
  • Sear each side of the fillets for 2 minutes, or until slightly browned.
  • Once seared, remove the fillets from the skillet and place them in a shallow baking dish. Pour the italian dressing over top each fillet.
  • Cover the dish with foil or oven safe lid and bake in the 350 degree oven for approx. 30 minutes, or until tender and flaky.

Notes

Do you have kiddos? If you want to make this a family meal, you can simply make 2 batches. Make one batch with the cayenne pepper for the adults and one without the cayenne pepper. Kids will surely love this recipe just as much as you will!
